Tatjana Giorgadse – solo show
‘I only rembember the cow and the pear tree is still shivering’
5 June – 30 July 2022
‘I only remember the cow and the Pear tree is still shivering’. The art works of the Georgia born artist Tatjana Giorgadse is like the title of this show: funny, narrative and it stimulates the imagination. Tatjana Giorgadse’s (1987) art is not easily categorised. It moves between surrealism, expressionism and pop-art and is characterised by a particularly free spirit. Although stone occupies a prominent place in her work, she also uses wood, metal, foam and all sorts of other things she finds or comes across. In addition, colour is important in combination with form and the stories that the materials evoke and carry within them.
Tatjana Giorgadse’s art is recognisable by its playfulness, frivolity and the occasional wink. This is not least because of her youth, which she spent in Georgia. With and in her works of art, Tatjana builds a story of contrasts; heavy materials with a rich and eventful history – such as stones – mixed with light materials that, in the face of a timeline, ‘just come into play’ (plastics). This makes the composition exciting and contradictory.
Tatjana Giorgadse’s wonderful world of art has its roots in a free and carefree childhood in the Georgian countryside. To this she adds her contemporary dreams, her fascination for nature and the frisky playfulness of her own children. Her work is unconventional and stimulating, a feast for the eye.
We look forward to seeing you!
