Sunshine and rain alternate. The temperature drops and the leaves on the trees slowly turn from green to yellow, brown and red. A time of turning inward and reflecting is approaching. The new art jewellery by Elena Gorbunova, Taehee In and Coco Sung, fits in perfectly with this.
Russian artist Elena Gorbunova (1989) is fascinated by communication and relationships between material and immaterial worlds. The work in this exhibition is entitled “Matches and Unions”. Elena Gorbunova creates wearable art objects in line with her research “what matches” and “connects”, where the outcome can also be 1+1=1.
Taehee In (1981) is from Pusan, South Korea. In the work of Taehee In, research, experiment and craftsmanship always lead to surprising and seemingly simple versions of artistic jewellery. Taehee In’s new series of jewellery focuses on the theme of ‘connection’ and the consequences of that connection – the butterfly effect.
The artworks of South Korean Coco Sung (1979) are full of decoration and devotion. Conceptually, her pieces can be read as house altars, amulets, objects with a protective function. Coco Sung’s forms and use of materials are exuberant, lavish and often a journey off the beaten path.
