Bodies in Motion – Immaterial Lines
Making jewellery sometimes can imply working on a small-scale object and sitting for hours on a working bench. My intention with this project was to jump away from my comfort zone to explore another way of working. My starting point was the exploration of my own body movements leading me to combine them with materials such as paper and fabric. This experience has allowed me to open my mind during the process of making. I began working on a larger scale, creating volume out of paper using my body as a medium. My main question was: how could I materialize body movements into objects? Photography and life-drawings have become tools that help me to catch the spontaneity of movement. The results have become the basis to create objects and finished pieces. Taking a break from goldsmithing to learn new techniques such as weaving and knitting have allowed me to approach metalworking in a new direction. The solutions I have found allow me to combine metal with textile. I continue to dig deeper in order to explore line as a way to express movement.
